A Veteran is someone

I’m proud to know

They fought so hard

Never letting go

They left their families

Husbands, wives, and kids

To fight for my freedom

On foreign grids

They ask us for nothing

But our thanks we should give

For their time in hell

They must forever relieve

You’ll never understand

The hell they face

Running into battle

Their fear misplaced

Do not ask why

For you’re not entitled to know

An explanation is not something

A Veteran owes

If you still feel

You need to know
